The hospitality industry is in the midst of global evolution. In today’s fast- changing global marketplace, hotel companies are striving to articulate, adopt and deliver the brand promise consistently throughout the value chain and across all stakeholder groups.
Hotel loyalty programs were invented decades ago, and haven’t changed much since then. So how do large hotel chains keep travelers loyal when business travel has become a commodity? Built on top of an existing loyalty program, Sourcebits’ envisioned a mobile app solution which takes personal service to the next level. Users would be able to book rooms, even selecting specific room preferences well in advance, delivering granular preferences far beyond basic user profiles. For example, a traveler may want the New York Times delivered to their room only when they’re in Los Angeles, or prefer to stay on high floors in non-connecting rooms close to the elevator. The app would help them select their preferences, and ensure that they’re met the day of their stay.
But the service really starts when a traveler actually checks in. From scheduling housekeeping times to setting up virtual do-not-disturb hours, the app would allow users complete control over their hotel experience. They could request extra pillows or a late checkout, even place a room service order from the road. The app would significantly reduce the stress on limited housekeeping and call-handling resources, while introducing a disruptive new level of customized service.
